New ratings in JancisRobinson.com after the visit of Tamly Currin in Languedoc last September.
The tasting was focused on the Mauzac, our native grape variety. It is mainly vinificated to elaborate “blanquette de Limoux”, but you can also find white wine.
TRADITION – 16/20
A fine blend of Mauzac mainly with a touch of Chenin. The two fermentations and the aging on the lees for 18 months reveals delicate bubbles and a fresh vibrancy.
“Tasted blind. Very clean and pure. Floral. White blossom and pink apple. Dainty.”. Tamlyn Currin.
CLAIR DE LUNE – 17/20
A 100% Mauzac different by its natural sweetness from a 1st fermentation stopped by the cold. The residual sugat from the grapes is balanced with great acidity. It has not been aged on the lees.
“Tasted blind. Big bubbles! Smells as if it is sweet – apple purée. OK, it’s sweet! Gauzy, and very, very delicate. Quince. Incredibly pretty. Finely spicy. Fantastic balance.”. Tamlyn Currin.
